On December 30, the Ashok Malhotra-led Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), which has the power to choose the new selection committee, will convene. There is no information regarding interviews scheduled for the day, and no agenda has been set for the gathering. The CAC, which was newly established, will meet with BCCI office holders to discuss how to choose the selectors, according to information circulating through BCCI sources.
Given that the BCCI has received a sizable number of applications, including a sizable number of fraudulent emails, the CAC members may also participate in the shortlisting of individuals. All of the applications are thought to have already been properly sent to the CAC members.
The selection committee's creation could take longer than expected; most likely, it will extend into the first week of January 2023. There is no immediate need for a selection committee because the team for the Sri Lanka series has already been announced. Instead, it is believed that the outgoing panel can always be called upon in an emergency.
Regarding the interviews, it is understood that the CAC members asked that they be conducted in person rather than electronically from a great distance. The same might be shared with the BCCI, who would then be responsible for planning the travel for the shortlisted applicants.
The outgoing panel's chairman, Chetan Sharma, and his colleague, Harvinder Singh, have both reapplied for the job. They both fall short of the four years required to become a national selector. Many people have applied for the five posts that will be filled zonally, including Venkatesh Prasad, S Sharath, SS Das, Maninder Singh, Mukund Parmar, Nayan Mongia, Salil Ankola, and Sameer Dighe.
