Wood won't be back for the playoffs once Stokes departs for England

Ben Stokes is on his way to England. After Chennai Super Lords' last association match in Delhi on Saturday (May 20), the Britain red ball commander has left the CSK camp, affirmed establishment Chief Kasi Viswanathan. CSK, incidentally, have two or three games remaining in the season and qualified for the playoffs by finishing in the top two.

"That was the arrangement from the start and he is returning today," a Britain and Ridges Cricket Board (ECB) official told Cricbuzz on Sunday (April 21). Stirs up had implied this around 90 days prior in New Zealand that he would avoid the last seven day stretch of the IPL to be in Britain well in time for their Test against Ireland beginning on June 1. The fact that the franchise denied it was another matter entirely.

Purchased for Rs 16.25 crore (pretty much $ 2 million), Stirs up, one of the chief all-rounders of the game on the planet, showed up in just two games for the establishment returning a very disappointing execution of 15 runs and no wickets in the one over he bowled.

A knee injury prevented Stokes from bowling, which limited his participation in the IPL. The management of the team insisted that they were unable to select him solely for batting. Stokes may still be eligible for a substantial salary after spending two months with the team. The most recent rules of the player agreement aren't entirely clear, but if a player doesn't make the team, he'll lose 20% of the match fee, divided by his share.

Mark Wood will not return to India to play in the Eliminator for the Lucknow Super Giants, who have qualified for the final four stages, according to a ECB official. The England pacer only played in four games for the Lucknow team. In the last week of April, he went home to give birth to his child, and he hasn't been back since.

On Sunday, the final day of the league phase, the participation of the majority of the 15 England players who played this season comes to an end. If Mumbai Indians qualify for the playoffs, Chris Jordan and only Moeen Ali (CSK) will remain.
